I've been asked how I am able to put everything I own in one elevator ride. I can tell you the #1 culprit when it comes to owning too much stuff - clothing. Half of the stuff in that elevator is clothing unfortunately. I've been guilty in the past as well. I love my Modcloth. But I love my bank account, and precious space more so I've been living on clothing rations - WWII style - in Great Britain, where rationing was more severe compared to America.

It's very easy - we all s ... tart off with 60 points at the beginning of each year. Using the charts below, deduct points each time a clothing item is purchased in a given year. I'm also constantly selling stuff online so if I sell a clothing item I add points - the amount corresponding to the type of item I sell.

60 points can buy me: 1 winter coat, 1 bridesmaid dress (which *sigh* I needed this year), 2 pairs of shoes, 1 sweater, 2 skirts, 3 pairs of stockings. That's more than enough for me. I know that's not enough for some women out there haha. That's why you need to ask yourself (because obviously money is not an issue for you since you will have your next paycheck coming): "Is this dress worth the ration points I'm about to lose?" since you don't get more points until the next year...unless you sell something.

I also tried living on food rations but it was much harder. I had to keep it up every week - meal planning and with only a certain amount of each food item. I lost the time and energy - but I would have no choice if there was a war going on! So I might start that up again. We can all learn and benefit from living on rations. I also ration my data (no more than 500mb per month), minutes, and texts, which is why my cell phone bill is $26/mo (Ting mobile is the best!). homecoming shift dresses

Up next, the #2 culprit of owning too much stuff - sentimental tchochke's, of which I have almost none of now...'cause I am no longer sentimental. When it comes to stuff, at least.
